Bosc d’en Pep Ferrer is the name of a place next to the beach of Migjorn, on the island of Formentera, Spain. The Pi des Català Tower, built in 1763, was the only construction in the place, but in 2017, the architecture studio of Marià Castelló Martínez, commissioned by a family concerned about the environment, built a 315-sqm house in that same place, divided into three wooden modules with views over the sea. The longitudinal layout of the modules gives rise to full-empty successions, courtyards, connecting walkways, transverse views and the surprise of a space sculpted by time: a natural cave in the main access courtyard, which was integrated into the project during the construction process. Under bio-construction criteria, precedence has been given to natural materials and, where possible, sourced from the site itself.
