After making an in-depth study, OOIIO Arquitectura studio has transformed an old, run-down structure, originally serving different functions, into something completely new. Despite the challenge – how to prevent a set of farm buildings, unused for years and modestly built, from collapsing –, through cooperation with the client and the builders, any problems were solved on a daily basis. The first work done on this hayloft, in Toledo, Spain, was structural. Subsequently, new elements were introduced respecting the old ones. The final project is a reflection of all this work in architectural surgery: the old has been reinterpreted and the new has been intertwined with it, resulting in a mosaic of nuances and details.
