400 metres from the Baltic Sea stands Wave One, a blend of the complexity of waves and authentic local elements created by FAAB Studio. Comprising five connected buildings, it is home to specialised medical laboratories, including a laboratory for testing for SARS-CoV-2, a research centre and administration spaces. Inspired by Pierre Carreau’s series of photographs, the final form of the building translates the geometric complexity of the waves captured by the artist. Like a wave, the crest of the building reproduces a curvature composed of 1,362 triangular panels. Thanks to the 3D elevations of Wave One, an effect derived from the triangular panels, while the sunlight reflects on the pavement and creates a cheerful and pleasant atmosphere.
