Located in Portland city centre, USA, Yard is a 21-storey mixed-use building that combines apartments, shops, offices, and parking. As it stands alongside the iconic Burnside Bridge and a skate park, Skylab’s team of architects faced numerous challenges and controversies. The solution for some of them was to build a podium, at level 5, upon which the gigantic tower rests. The podium is open to the public, offering spas, co-working space and eco roof. Above the podium, there is a tower oriented to maximize connections to the urban landscape to the west, and the dynamic mountains views to the east.
