At the request of chef David Lee, the owner of Nota Bene, interior design studio +tongtong, has revamped the interiors of this sophisticated restaurant in the Queen Street West neighbourhood of Toronto. With a more modern design, the studio has developed a concept inspired by the chef’s new menu, focusing on seasonal ingredients. Elements that celebrate the beauty of change, whether through the powers of nature, or through the ingenuity of man. Upon entering, guests are greeted by a statuesque tree, the trunk of which is of a fallen Ironwood tree. The reflective black ceiling gives a sense of depth and mystery, stretching the length of the room. The glass rail separates the new bar from the dining room. The wine display, back lit and framed behind a glass wall, features columns of voluptuous vegetable-tanned leather saddles cradling the bottles.
