Meteor Cinema

Movement captured

Coated with wood-like patterns in two shades of brown the aluminium cuboids extending from the ceiling give a shocking sense of movement to the two-storey Meteor Cinema located in a shopping mall in Guangzhou, China. Referring to a meteor shower, the many portrayals mimic the motion of a meteor shower streaking through the sky, piercing the ceiling and then invading the cinema space. The designers of One Plus, responsible for the project, wanted to capture the movement of a meteor shower, presenting it as an eternal installation, with different styles of wall decorations, rectangular stones in the corridors, matching signage and even beds for the audience to lie down and enjoy the meteor shower before the movie starts.
