Two distant architectures, separated by time, and also by their unequal construction form, gave rise to the 487-sqm Casa Ansião, in the historical centre of the town of Ansião, Portugal. This is a house of historic value. The aim was to create a symbiosis between the two, while always respecting the existing origin. On the plot, delimited by walls and constructions adjoining it, the house was formed through the creation of an inner courtyard, towards which all its rooms face. With a cosy character, focusing on the inside world, the entire property is composed of privacy. Just as human presence is the essential element in defining Casa Ansião, the team of Bruno Dias Arquitetura studio took care to look for warm colours and materials inside the house, thus providing greater spatial comfort. On the outside, the house’s original lines stand out, keeping the same language in the new volume.
