Nestled on the edge of a public garden in the heart of Bordeaux, this mansion dating from 1850 reveals its majestic architecture throughout the seasons. The challenge of this interior renovation project, under the guidance of architect Mickaël Martins Afonso, was to create a new environment adapted to contemporary requirements, without distorting the existing one. The interiors, in a very good state of repair, have retained their old charm, but have been given a touch of contemporary flair, in a harmonious play of contrasts. What makes this project so astounding is that all the spaces and all the objects seem obvious, as if they had always been like this, connected through an invisible thread. To achieve this duality between new and unchanged spaces, it was important that the teams work with old materials, such as plaster, carpentry, and traditional wardrobes. Everything has been designed so that the mansion reveals the present, but with hints of the past and ways of the future.
