Born in Cameroon he arrived in France in the 1990s. He worked as a model for Dior, Lanvin or Yves Saint Laurent. As a self-taught, he learned the principles of haute couture and launched his own label back in 2001. Since then, he has presented collections all over the world. His name is Imane Ayissi and he is already making history by being the first designer from sub-Saharan Africa to present his work at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. In addition to joining the elite of the competitive fashion world, Ayissi is also shaking up stereotypes around what African materials are.
