A survey by US space agency, NASA, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration found that the Earth’s temperature in 2021 was the sixth highest in history, signalling an upward trend that has been going on since at least 2018 – and is expected to be even higher in 2022. The agency study took into account six different calculations that positioned 2021 between fifth and seventh place in the ranking of Earth’s hottest temperatures ever recorded. In some calculations, last year stood alone in sixth place.
