The Colorau natural dyeing process by Portuguese company Tintex is being used in a collection of high-quality knitwear made from Texloop recycled cotton yarns, the result of a partnership with Circular Systems. The innovative process replaces synthetic dyes with natural extracts and combines them with a knit produced from up to 50% recycled cotton, the brands clarified. The World Bank estimates that 17% to 20% of industrial wastewater comes from the dyeing and finishing of textiles. Some 72 toxic chemicals have been identified in the water, 30 of which cannot be removed.
