Mickaël Martins Afonso’s goal
was to renovate a house stood next to the sea. Free-spirited, the project is
located in the southern half of Île de Ré, France, and draws inspiration for
its design from the wind and the sea. Fully renovated, the building has been
given a new beating heart, truly connected to the natural elements that
surround it. The architect presents a dream space for couples, with defining pillars
based on comfort and openness to the outside. The renovation procedure was
aligned to the mineral floor contrasting with the use of wood, providing a
greater connection of the place with the outside, as if the result were an
extension of the sea. The living room offers a stunning view, connected with
the dining room and kitchen. The bedrooms, on the other hand, guarantee
privacy. The details of the space make this an inclusive setting, moulding it
to any lifestyle with its white nuanced lines and its granite and oak
materials.
