Interior design can positively influence the dynamics of everyday life, from the use of colour to the lighting of a space. And no, not just in terms of home comfort. This is Link Lab Creative Offices, the office refurbishment project on the second floor of a high-rise in Kortrijk, Belgium. Unoccupied for ten years, Stay Studio & Markland Architects saw the site as a pretext for reviving big business. The structure of the building is almost intact. At the entrance, the escalator has been preserved, recalling the shopping area it once was. All the rooms give off a feeling of spaciousness. The ventilation ducts and other pipework have been kept visible, highlighting the industrial charm that comes so naturally. The walls and doors result in a balance between openness and privacy, made from greenhouse construction that create either secluded spaces or areas for socialising. In addition to the bold aesthetic, the minimalist approach is in line with ecological principles. Checkmate.
