Exactly 70 years after the first Chevrolet Corvette was unveiled to the world in January 1953, General Motors has unveiled its first electric-powered model. The Corvette E-Ray’s front wheels are powered by a 160-hp electric motor, while a 495-hp V8 petrol engine powers the rear wheels. A selection of six driving modes, including Tour, Track and a My Mode setting, dictate the car’s deployment of electric power, while an additional Stealth mode allows silent running when starting the journey. With 646 hp in total, it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds. The E-Ray is also the first all-wheel-drive Corvette and the fastest ever.
