Italian
shipyard Rossinavi has revealed the concept for its new 44-metre catamaran
project Oneiric in collaboration with the Zaha Hadid architectural firm.
Designed to be Rossinavi’s "green technology engine”, it features three levels
of integrated solar panels that efficiently charge its battery. On a day
voyage, the Oneiric can sail up to 100% of the time in full electric
mode with zero emissions. On transatlantic crossings, the yacht can sail in
full electric mode up to 70% of the time, saving approximately 40 tonnes of CO2
compared to a conventional vessel. The solar panels, which continuously charge
the battery during the day, are also designed for periods when the yacht is not
in use and, when moored, can power a family villa on shore.
