It all began in 1899 when
British engineer James Marshall created the first supportive mattress with
coiled springs wrapped in muslin. In 1901, the revolutionary design
arrived in Great Britain through the hands of John Nolon and Frederick James.
In 1911, Vispring found its market and began to provide comfort for the cabins
and suites of the world’s finest ships, such as the Titanic and the Olympic.
Many years later, Vispring mattresses are still made with natural materials,
such as horsehair, pure cotton and Shetland wool, as well as luxury finishes
(silk and cashmere). This has made Vispring a solid and innovative brand, which
already won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in 2012.
